Schaap en Citroen is a jeweller with a rich history established in 1888. Nowadays Schaap en Citroen has 10 locations throughout the Netherlands.
In 1888 Maurits Schaap opened a jeweller store at the Steenweg in Utrecht. Together with his wife he managed to survive WOII and build an impressive and leading store for the region. In the 50's Schaap sold the store to jeweller Van Gelder from Venlo. After the take-over of the brothers Citroen the jeweller Schaap, Citroen was born in 1965. In the next years the firm flourished as a successful seller of exclusive jewellery and watches. Later Schaap & Citroen Van Gelder sold the firm to retail investment firm AMEV who introduced the name Schaap & Citroen. In the 80’s the firm was sold to Maxeda, however it remained independent. In 2009 Leon Martens Jewelers from Maastrich bought Schaap en Citroen Juweliers and from then on it was part of the SMG Group.
